This model that is wet-dry is fitted with Ecovacs' upgraded AIVI 3D 2.0 lidar system, which offers improved mapping and obstacles avoidance. It uses dual laser LiDAR, which is similar to that used in self-driving vehicles. It can scan up to 32 feet by 270 degrees. This results in more precise mapping and faster response times and greater cleaning accuracy.

It also comes with an alternating mopping mat made of chenille, which makes it easier to scrub hard spots than traditional mops. In my testing the X2 Omni took just over one minute to clean its pad before getting to work, and I noticed it was much more accurate than previous models that were able to follow a grid-like path around rooms. It was able navigate corners and edges of my rooms, as well as make "Zambani patterns" across the middle of the room. It returned to its OMNI Station regularly to empty the dustbin and clean the mop using hot water, before starting another task of cleaning.

It's a great mid-range robotic vacuum cleaner however it doesn't exactly live up to its promise of being a one-stop shop for floor cleaning.

The X8 Hybrid appears to be a standard robotic cleaner from the top. It has a circular form, sweeping wheels, and a raised sensor area. However, flip it over there's an electric floor brush and a single side sweeper brush which pushes dirt from the edges of the machine into the main path of the robot's mouth. It's a little smaller than the main brushes of the iRobot Roomba S9, which I discovered makes it easier to fit under couches and chairs.

Its mapping system lets you define no-mop areas as well as specific cleaning zones. It is prone to hitting things like its charging station, and isn't great in climbing over carpets. It was effective in picking up pet hair from bare floors. In our tests it was able to pick up 89.5 percent of kitty litter.

This robot was very successful in our tests on hardwood floors and kibble. It ate everything, from one rice grain to several dog food pieces with only one swipe. It did have some issues with rugs but, generally this vacuum cleaner is great for large rooms that have both types of flooring and a mix of pets.

The A4s Pro is expensive but it's an excellent option for those who wish to be able to leave the house hands-free so they can take on other tasks or take care chores. The A4s Pro also offers a useful auto-cleaning mode that automatically boosts suction power to handle tough spills and dirt and includes batteries that power the ElectroWall that lets you set boundaries that the robot is not allowed to enter.

This budget-friendly robot from a popular brand is the cheapest we've ever tested and offers incredible value for money. The basic navigation system is based on a basic random pathing algorithm, and it lacks the ability to map rooms. This is why it's less effective as other models on this list. However it's still able to reach under furniture and in corners and its mopping feature was very effective in our testing and was able to pick up pet hair and other debris easily.

5. Shark iQ

Shark's iQ might not be as sturdy however, it's better in removing pet hair from all surfaces. It cleans floors that are bare more thoroughly and does a fair job on low-pile carpet and uses smart-pathing navigational technology for better maneuverability. It can be sent to a specific area, and includes a variety of advanced automation features including no-go zones and schedules. It lets you pause and resume cleaning which is ideal for homes that have pets.

Its self-cleaning brushroll prevents knots from pet hair and other debris, and its self emptying robot vacuum for pet hair-emptying docking station can hold up to 30 days of dirt before needing to be cleaned.
