The D4 is a great choice for those looking for a robot vacuum with lots of features. It comes with handy navigation and mapping tools, smart home integration and an app that is simple to use.

You can set up the bot by connecting it to its base and then connecting it to your home Wi Fi network. Once you've done that, the Neato application will guide you through an initial configuration (linking to Wi-Fi and calling the D4, etc.). Once the D4 is fully charged it's time to start cleaning.

Once you've got the D4 running it's possible to make use of the app to create an automated schedule or manually start cleaning whenever you want. You can also control it with your voice via Google Home or Amazon Alexa. And if you have an Apple Watch, you can start cleaning by simply pressing the wrist.

This model did well in our tests on both hard and carpeted floors, capturing 91.3% combined of debris from serpentine paths. However it's not as efficient at edge and corner cleaning as the more expensive models. Its side sensors keep the D4 about 1.5 inches from walls. And it lacks the side-sweeping brushes that are found on all but the most expensive robotic cleaners. Its raised turret also means that it can't be used under furniture with low clearance. It does, however, support virtual No-Go Lines so you can draw lines on your floor plan to inform the D4 not to go there. The battery life of 75 minutes is also fairly average. This is a small price to pay for the convenience of this model.

It's also iRobot's strongest vacuum, capable of grabbing dirt with more granular debris and hairy pet hair that is larger, unlike other mid-range models such as the Roomba 960. This is due to the cleaner's wider counter-rotating brushes as well as a more powerful motor with more suction power.

The Roomba 995 is also iRobot's lowest-cost vacuum, with recharge and resume, but it doesn't have the auto-empty feature that the I6+ and I7 offer. It doesn't have the iAdapt navigation 2.0 and the camera used by the I7 to track objects and avoid obstructions. This means that it won't be able to save maps or use features in-app that contain information, such as no-go zones.

A less expensive alternative to the 980, the 960 provides similar performance but in a smaller. It is great for floors that are carpeted or bare, picking up dirt and food crumbs. It's also excellent in navigating and avoiding obstacles. It is capable of cleaning dirt that has been embedded.

This robot utilizes iAdapt navigation 2.0 to track its position. This allows it to navigate through the space with ease and avoid being trapped.
