Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing its base stats or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Typically, items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas items with strong bases such as eth titans aren't affected in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be used to upgrade trinkets, armor, weapons and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or additional impact when the equipment is used. They can be purchased from vendors, or found as loot by enemies, or obtained from missions and chests. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.

To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will need to select it and then click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade stats as well as the necessary component or materials.

There are three kinds of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a type restriction. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment, are the same as gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, will include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding the word Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades to gather tools, if a player replaces one glyph by another the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from the previous versions in a few key ways. Gear is now classified into tracks, and each Best item upgrader is able to be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The cost of upgrading is increased with each level however the materials required aren't as high. This allows players to focus their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the effect of these items, instead of spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.

Once an item has been completed in this way, it is eligible for an upgrade set of components, and an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as Artisan's Energy. It resets to 0 if an upgrade item fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its maximum level it is able to gain affixes which will boost its attributes. The number of affixes available depends on the type of item it is. For example an uncommon or exclusive weapon with a standard base will only have two affixes, whereas a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade will require an amount of Flightstones and crests based on the item's current level and the item slot it's in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item is not able to attain its maximum level The NPC will offer the player the option of transfer it to another person and then re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of material but will have lower chances of success.

To measure the height of a building, engineers will employ a level to compare the measurement to a known reference point like a benchmark, or the elevation of the ground. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and the level, then turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are constructed to a high standard of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can significantly improve an item's strength and damage as well as other attributes. You can do this through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be used in very rare instances.

The game lets players recycle upgraded items, and use them to earn tokens for rerolls. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or another item of the same type. Recyclable items have an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item determines the level of filling.

Prior to this, some upgrade items were given priority affixes, which made them easier to roll. This meant that you would receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and control impaired duration reduction stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for every stat. This can be a great or a bad thing, depending on your requirements and wants from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can have a unique, fixed-value bonus that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to the standard affixes. The more you improve a product, the greater the chance of receiving a unique bonus.

The game also has a number set that grants the player a bonus if three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on an item level upgrade. This is an excellent method to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending an excessive amount of money.

Many players choose to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the beginning of the game. This is because rerolling could provide a much faster path to a powerful character which allows them to achieve higher levels and advance in the game much more quickly.

Sets

Sets are collections of elements that can be arranged in various ways. They can be different dimensions, have none of the elements, or have a single element. They can be used to organize data or sorting information. They also aid in analysing patterns. Sets can be categorized in several ways, including by size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an extensive selection of upgradeable set items. Some are worth upgrading, others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that offer high defense value and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades aren't as effective in boosting stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you own many armor or weapons already.

Set items can be upgraded to include special functions that are beneficial for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).

Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into the same level with their levels. For example, the Immortal King set has a large level range, from 29 to 76. Upgrades to lower-level items could enhance their defense, and make them more competitive when it comes to damage.

To see if an item is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button on the character screen. The item's attributes will be displayed, along with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the upgrade requirements for specific items.

In general, weapons and jewelry offer more value for trade when they are fully upgraded than armor. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related, upgrading them to gold is recommended because it will result in a significant increase in their performance. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade, since its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
