Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment with new attachments. They can also boost its base stats or add additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, such as rings, can be upgraded into stronger bases. Items with strong bases, like eth Titans have little change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or extra effect while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or received from chests and missions. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain level before they can be upgraded.

In order to upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player must select it, and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade stats will be and also the required component or material needed to make that happen.

There are three kinds: universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which include gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment, are the same as jewels but provide larger bonuses and cannot be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, will add their names to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding a Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades to gather tools, if a player replaces one glyph with another the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace another upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from the previous versions in a few key ways. Gear is now categorized in tracks and each item is able to be upgraded as many times before it is "leveled out." The cost of upgrading is increased with each level however, the materials needed do not increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a handful of essential items and maximize their impact rather than spreading out the cost of upgrades across several pieces.

This will enable the item to receive upgraded components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy and it resets to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade is successful.

When a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it is able to get the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the type of item it is. For instance an uncommon or unique weapon with a standard base will have only two affixes, while a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level and in what slot it is placed in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item does not reach its max level The NPC will offer players the option to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours and will cost the same amount of materials. However it has a lower success rate.

To determine the height of a building engineers employ a level to compare the measurement against an established reference point, like a benchmark or the ground's elevation. Rerolling

Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item upgrade or another item Upgrader mod of the same type. Recyclable items come with an indicator that indicates the amount of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item.

In the past, certain upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd be able to get the stats that were important most to your build often than other. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for each stat. This could be a positive or a bad thing, dependent on your needs and wants from your equipment.

Each upgraded item could have a unique fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to standard affixes. The more you improve a product, the higher your chance of obtaining an exclusive bonus.

To see if an item is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button on the screen for their character. The attributes of the item will be displayed together with any required items. To upgrade item the No-mouth Face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternatively, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the requirements for upgrading specific items.

In general, weapons and jewelry offer more value for trade when they are fully upgraded than armor. Particularly, for weapons that feature spell/weapon damage glyphs, upgrading them to gold is recommended because it will provide a significant improvement in their stats. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade, since its defense value will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
