The upgrading of your items is a vital part of equipping your character. Upgrades increase the base damage and enchantments of items.

They also provide rewards and upgrades. The Blacksmith is able to sell them to you.

The upgrade button can be found on any item upgrader kit. Each recycled item upgrade adds one level to the upgrade gauge.

Weapons

When a weapon is upgraded, it gains an initial damage bonus, as well as a scaling factor that can affect other stats. Certain upgrade components come with cosmetic effects and others provide additional features. These upgrades can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, gathering tools and trinkets. They generally require that the item has an upgrade slot and meet certain requirements. The upgrade component can be removed from a weapon, armor, or trinket, but it will not be replaced. (Except for legendary equipment). Upgrade components can be retrieved by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit Ascended Salvage tool, or a high-tier salvaging tool that is attached to an item.

In addition to the standard upgrades, a weapon may be upgraded with the Calibration Attribute which improves certain stats, such as Weakspot Damage or Crit Rate. This is done via the Gear Workbench's interaction menu. Based on the level of the weapon it can be done up to four times.

Once the weapon has reached max upgrade, it can be reforged using a variety of different upgrade types to boost specific stats or to add bonuses and effects. A variety of these upgrades can be re-applied simultaneously, and the effects vary depending on the quality of the weapon.

There are two Blacksmiths in the game that can perform these upgrades: Blacksmith Hewg in the Church of Elleh hub area and Smithing Master Iji in the Road to the Manor Site of Grace. Both upgrade materials are different: Smithing Stones to modify the damage weapons deal and Somber Smithing Stones to modify standard weapons.

In general, it is advised to improve weapon damage first, then armour defense, then the other secondary stats that are required by your build. It is not unusual to see melee Druids upgrade their weapon before upgrading other gear. This can help increase DPS. This is especially true for enchantments that can enhance a weapon's stats and damage.

Armor

Item upgrades allow players to boost the stats of certain weapons, armors trinkets and gathering tools. They can also provide additional effects such as increased damage or cosmetic enhancements. Item upgrades are available through crafting, purchasing from NPC vendors, loot drop or as quest rewards.

The armor can be upgraded by visiting the Armorer NPC, and spending the appropriate currency. In most cases the armor will be upgraded to the next level once an upgrade is applied. This is possible for most types of armor, however certain types of armor cannot be upgraded at all (such as the starter armor in Great Sky Island).

The majority of armor upgrades provide a small increase to an item's base defense or strength. However, some upgrade components can offer significant increases to strength or defense, especially when upgrading an Best item upgrade that is epic.

In addition to increasing the defense of an item, a few upgrades also provide specific abilities that can be activated when wearing an armor. These abilities can be useful in combat, for instance granting a buff to attack speed or blocking. Certain upgrades can have effect that are passive and can be useful like reducing damage while wearing armor or enhancing the chance of avoiding an attack.

Depending on the type of armor, upgrading an Best Item upgrade can require multiple tries. If a player is looking to upgrade Steelclash armor into Dragonscale, then the first attempt will result in a brand new Dragonscale armor with the defense base ranging from 59 to 67. The second attempt will result in a brand new Dragonscale armor that has the base defense between 67 and 77, and the list goes on.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild allows players to upgrade their armor sets up to level 4. To upgrade their armor players must visit the four Great Fairy Fountains found in the game. Each of these locations is home to the power of a fairy who can upgrade a piece of armor for the player.

Contrary to what many believe armor isn't useless in The Division 2. The truth is that certain armors have very significant enhancements to poison, curse, fire or magic damage reduction, which makes them invaluable for specific builds. There are also ways to boost armor stats beyond the use of upgradeable armor, such as the engineer trait to increase armor penetration or the challenger trait to reduce the weight of the entire armor.

Potion

A potion can be upgraded by putting it in the brewing stand to unlock new effects. The upgrade opens a new level of potion effect and can be repeated to unlock higher levels of potency.

The potion also gains a custom color code which the player can choose using /give and which alters the area-of-effect clouds and arrows created by the potions. In Bedrock Edition the custom potion color also affects the particle effects of the potions.

The water bottle, the mundane potions that are thick and awkward now have a fresh brewing texture. In the Creative Inventory potion healing and weakness have been added. Addition of lingering potions, which can be made with splash potions or Dragon breath. Also included is a thick potion that has the status effect of Mining Fatigue. Trinket

A trinket is an ornament that is inexpensive or a piece of jewelry. This can be a necklace, ring or even a small flag that is used to identify a boat's lateen yard. It could also refer to a gilded trinket that is attached to the mast of a boat.

This bizarre trinket is believed to be influencing the residents of this maze by making them more common. The trinket, at present, makes all types Xx of mimics more common and gives each floor a A% chance that it will contain an ebony replica. Upgrades to this trinket require a small amount of energy.

The magic from this enchanted scepter seems to be affecting the dungeon itself and making it more likely to generate grass and water. This trinket at the current level, will cause X% of the regular floors to be filled with grass or water. It does not affect enchantments, glyphs, cursed weapons or armor, or other items that are created to solve the dangers in rooms.

The item, which appears like eyes of a newt is believed to affect your vision in a way that goes beyond just decreasing your field of view. This trinket, in its current level, boosts the health benefits gained from drinking potions of healing and wells of life by X%, and grants mind sight on enemies within Y tile. This trinket cannot be combined with the Heightened Senses.

Skull Cavern is where you will find Trinkets after completing the Mastery Cave. You can find them by defeating Monsters, and in chests and crates. They can't be found in the Mines or Volcano Dungeon.

When you have a trinket which requires upgrading then place it in the Anvil to upgrade it. This will affect the trinket which is random and will either increase or strengthen its effects. You can reuse the Trinket as many times as you want however it will always have the same effect.

You can upgrade your Trinkets in the Alchemy Station by placing them into a Magical Catalyst. It will cost you 6 energy and boost the trinket's power by a small amount.
