WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also added to each upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The Best item upgrader upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show the preview of an item level upgrade's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For example weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Crests

For instance, when an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their gear up to the highest level possible on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests have one purpose, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance, it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrade gear you have available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to make. This is particularly applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
