How to Replace an audi Replacement key Cost uk G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician shows you how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is located on the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal the ECU via the grey wire (T55/49), then to the tachometer within the instrument cluster.

Located on the edge cost of audi key replacement the transmission above the flywheel ring gear G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends an electrical signal to ECU pin T55/49 through the grey wire. The ECU uses this information to control boost and fuel. It also sends signals to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor audi car key case key replacement near me (www.metooo.com) is used to link the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is so it can activate spark and injectors in the right way.

If this sensor fails when it fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This means that the Crank Shaft is out of line with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of a chain stretch or a jumped chain link in the upper chain of timing. However the code will not appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It is a little tricky to test because there are several connector pins, and each has its own functions. The best way to do it is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. When the sensor is fully operational, it should be reading around 1000 ohms. Look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay if there are issues with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll, i experienced an abrupt drop in power like the engine is running out of gas or the injectors are not firing anymore. I took out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were soaked in gasoline, and the fourth was dry. When I start the engine with no sparks, i place a tissue on the top of each hole in the injector, the 3 drenched with gazoline jump out but the 4th one stays shut. I checked the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55/30/55/48/55/14/55/48/ i get zero ohm. I'm assuming the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID but without success. The car is able to start if the G28 is unplugged and is running fine when it is plugged in, but still has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The coolant temperature sensor (G62) shows the wrong temperature value of -49c even when i unplug it. Also i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit shows 2 bar, whereas the actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.

I'm not sure what to do, but i believe that i've completely ruled out all other possibilities. But i am afraid I may have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please chime in! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal sent by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender and both work on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate a spare in a wrecking shop or parts store. Test them out to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and take measurements between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's end up) and 2 (2nd from the left on the black connector's end). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that has to be aware of the speed and position of the crankshaft to make a decision about timing of the fuel injector, for example. In order to do this it uses a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these sensors go wrong, you will receive codes on the diagnostic scanner which could cause engine shut down.

The signs of a malfunctioning G28 sensor include an inaccurate gearbox rev counter the gears are shifting faster than normal, and/or a misfire when you are in gear. It is probable that your sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you experience any of these symptoms. They're cheap and easy to find particularly if they're a Bosch unit like ours. Alternately, the GM version of this unit is also a great option.

5. Tachometer

A malfunctioning engine speed sensor could be the reason behind a slew of issues with your vehicle. It's a vital component of your audi lost key's transmission, as it sends information to the ECU about how fast or slow the vehicle's crankshaft is rotating. This sensor could cause the transmission to fail and other car components to be affected.

Mercedes-Benz-3D-Star.pngThe G5 engine sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. It transmits an electrical signal through gray wire to ECU pin T55/49. The ECU uses this signal to control the flow of fuel and boost as well as timig. It also sends it to the G5 Tachometer inside the instrument cluster. You can test the sensor for any failure by checking the continuity between it and the tachometer. You can also check continuity between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) as well as between T6a/1, and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should observe approximately 1000 ohms of resistance between those points. This is a typical component across the audi car key cover 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC through the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU so good ones could be available in wrecking yards.
