The majority of 3 wheel twin stroller wheel double buggies are initially single pushchairs, but some can be converted to take the seat of a second person or carrycot with adapters (these are more commonly found in tandem buggies). Some models allow you to add an extra board to older children who are ready to walk, but need some help.

Take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo for an ultra-lightweight option that is perfect for city streets. It is easy to maneuver and comes with an enormous basket that has plenty of storage. It can accommodate twins starting at birth and will accept two car seats or a carrycot with seat. However, the seats have to face forwards and there's no room for a shopping bag under, so you'll need a sidepack for this.

Mountain Buggy Duet will be the best choice If you like off-road driving. It is a side by tandem with the most compact footprint of any double buggy that is available. It's much easier to get through narrow doors as well as on public transport. It is also able to climb over and over kerbs. The adjustable handlebar features a handbrake for added safety and security.

The UPPAbaby Vista 2 double is a lightweight option that is suitable for twins or a toddler and baby. The seats can be reclining in multiple positions with UPF 50plus sunshades. The canopy can be adjusted to ensure that the sun does not get into your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can even be transformed into a triple with the addition of UPPAbaby's 'PiggyBack board designed for mobile older kids.

The iCandy Orange double buggies are one of the most sought-after available. This is due to their superb comfort. It's a true all-terrain pushchair with a soft suspension to make easy work of bumpy surfaces. It has 30 different seating configurations, a built-in board for older children who like to walk, and a 'cinema' mode which raises the back seats for better visibility.

The phil&teds dots are brilliant single buggys that can be easily modified to take two (or three!) different configurations. This is particularly helpful when you have a child in a car seat because the frame can be equipped with a wedgie to allow for optimal position, and also car seat adapters for a wider range of brands.

Suspension

The suspension of a triple wheeled buggy will determine the ease with which you and your child/children are able to push it. A smooth ride is crucial because babies feel every bump in the road, particularly if it's in rough terrain such as grass or paths that aren't paved. Some models come with front tires that lock to help maneuver and get over obstacles like curbs.

Some models have tyres with air filled that are great for all-terrain rides, but they can be prone punctures. Make sure you have an extra set of tyres in the trunk. Others have foam or gel tyres, designed to take the bumps and are less prone to punctures, however, you may feel a bit stiff and uncomfortable for your child's back when you decide to run.

A three-wheel double buggy could be folded in a neat manner for storage. Storage

Many are awed by the storage capacity of a triple-wheeled buggy. Some models like the Roma Atlas offer a generously-sized basket, as well as two zip pockets inside the hood to keep keys and your phone within easy reach. It is also designed to handle slightly rough terrain which makes it a great option for family walks and all-terrain hikes.

Other models, like the UPPAbaby Vista 2, offer plenty of room and the flexibility to transport twins or a toddler and a child. (This is possible thanks to their 'PiggyBack board'). It's the most compact side-by-side double on the market. It also features amazing technology, like LED lights for visibility which are located on both sides of the frame to increase safety in low-light conditions.
