Replacement UPVC Door Handles

If you're replacing your handles or want to add a bit of extra security you can find the right handle for your door. These handles made of upvc are easy to install and meet the 92mm minimum center distance of multipoint locks.

The most important measurements to be considered are backplate fixing centres and lever/key hole dimensions. Compare these measurements carefully with your existing measurements prior to placing an order.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad handles are made up of a lever on one side, and a paddle-shaped handle on the opposite. These are designed to work with key wind locks however they can also be used to multipoint split spindle door locks (though you'll need an additional dual spindle lock case).

It is a good thing to loosen the screws holding your door handle, and then check the mechanism. If the screws aren't loose enough then you might need to loosen them even more. Then you can remove the spindle from the door handle and replace it with a new upvc handle. Before screwing the handle into position, it is recommended to ensure that it is in the proper position, and you can do this by inserting your finger into the gap between the frame of the door and the door handle to make sure it is level.

Lever/Lever

Lever door handles function as with a multi-point lock that utilizes the Euro Cylinder and are found on the majority of double doors made of aluminium door handle, upvc doors and some wooden doors. They have a lever inside and a paddle on the outside and are typically available in two different types. Sprung - These have an internal spring cassette within the backplate to help bring the handle lever into the horizontal position. Non-sprung - These do not include a spring mechanism and must be manually pulled to bring the handle lever back to its horizontal position.

To fix the door handle of a lever that is sagging, you will need to find the hole for access to the detent or pin, which is usually an elongated or rectangular with a protruding hole located on one side of the handle base plate. Once you have located the detent access hole or pin, you can take it out using a screwdriver.

After the handle is positioned horizontally, you can reinstall the screws. Tighten them to ensure that the handle stays fixed to the base plate. Consider applying a threadlocking solution to the threads of screws to improve grip and prevent them from loosing over time.

There are many reasons why door handles of levers drop. The most frequent reason is that the fixings are over tightened, and are putting pressure on the bearings of the lever, and causing it to pull against the door face. It could also be because the levers are not being operated in a straight line and this is causing compression of the latch mechanism preventing it from fully springing back into service.

The most common reason for a spring lever not operating properly is the spring not being in the right position on the backplate. To check if the handle returns to its horizontal position, simply turn it.

If your door handles are loose it is important to identify the issue fast, as this can lead to excessive wear on the screws and possibly to the handle falling off of the base plate. It is recommended to tighten all loose screws on a regular basis, as this will help to prevent them from becoming loose.

Lever/Snib

They are typically fitted with a Fullex 68PZ (that's 68mm between the spindle centre and lever or the lock centre) door lock.
