Three Wheeled Buggies

If you're looking for a buggy run with or just a nifty stroller to tackle the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies offer great mobility. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver even in tight places.

If you want an easy ride in your baby, opt for models with 360deg front wheels with swivel. They are, however, susceptible to punctures. Be prepared with an emergency repair kit.

Frame made of sturdy material

Figures have just been released that show that the three-wheeled buggie - that noughties symbol of more money than wisdom is in a decline. They are being replaced by four-wheelers that are able to be more versatile in terrain, while also looking swanky and being easy to push.

The bigger the wheels are the better your buggy will cope with bumpy and uneven pavements. The larger wheels on both the front and back makes it easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or over difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy out with a newborn as well as a 3 year old and found that it was able to withstand cobbles, grass, rough pavements, dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said it felt sturdy to push, and extremely solid on rough terrain. The tyres, that are inflatable and require to be pumped up occasionally and have a suspension built-in. This was very comfortable for my kids.

Another thing to take into consideration is the seat size and shape. You want the seat to be large enough to allow your child to be comfortable and to allow them to lie down. Certain three-wheel buggies come with a lie-flat option that allows your child to lie flat and face you, while other buggies only allow a face-to-parent one.

Many three wheeled buggies have swivel front wheels to help you navigate around corners with ease, whereas others are designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to increase the speed and stability at the speed at which they can be pushed. This can also help if you bump into an unintentional tree root or road, as the front wheel will rise up slightly to prevent you from hitting it.

Many 3 wheel pushchairs feature air filled tyres which means they are able to handle many different terrains and are far more flexible than 4-wheeler. They're also lighter. However, they are prone to punctures, so you'll need to keep an repair kit, spare inner tube and pump handy.

These buggies, according to MFM's Kath, have larger wheels, which she claims "perform well on grass, gravel roads and market town cobbles", and can easily climb or descend kerbs. MFM reviewer Kath tried a lightest 3 wheel stroller-wheeler with her toddler. she wrote: "The Terrain is a joy to maneuver on uneven terrain. The swivel wheel in the front was especially helpful." I was also impressed with how well it dealt with kerbs, especially when using the hand-operated brake. I found it to be extremely stable when going downhill or over uneven terrain."

The only drawback to this amazing maneuverability is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheeler stroller-wheel buggy may make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something you should keep in mind when you live in an urban area. If this is the case then a four-wheeled buggy might be a better option for you.
